Eternal Chapter Memorial improvements

As this is the centennial year at Murray State University we are anticipating a large Homecoming gathering. We are pushing to complete the Eternal Chapter Memorial improvements before so Brothers can stroll around looking at the names, remembering their college years with some of them.

The very first Zeta Lambda to die was Roger Partington (Beta ‘60) on November 1, 1969 at 29 years old. He is also the only Brother to die in Vietnam. We are creating a special commemorative designated stone for him. Also working to add some low shrubbery to dress up the area and a plaque at the flagpole dedicating it to all our military veterans.

Another area of special recognition commemorating our founding and our heritage of Best Brotherhood, Beta Tau Beta, and ATO Club (colony) running up to our Charter members being installed (some of them were in each of the previous 3 organizations) will be added.

With so many gone (and we all will be eventually) the plan is to design a patio type layout that can be expanded going forward. The bricks will be placed in chronological order of death.

Brother Steve Farmer is leading the project and is working through the timeline and where help will be needed.

  • – replacing the cannon wheels
  • – erecting the flagpole
  • – installing new lighting for the outside of the house and the flag
